From the 22to the 31st of July 2007. I Dr Mohamed Theneyan along with Dr Diego Cesar had the opportunity to travel to the Game Capture School in South Africa. During the 10 days we brushed up on applied pharmacology and physiology with Professor Meltzer. We also had the opportunity to try out the different dart systems and capture equipment. Drug handling and human first aid was one of the very interesting and informative lectures that were covered under the course. Apart from the theoretical part we did a lot of practical work like relocating lions, capture of rhino and darting from the helicopter. One very informative lecture was the physiology of the Nile crocodile followed by the trip to the crocodile farm. We also had the chance to see some elephant bulls and learn the behavior of elephants from a close ange.
